The fifth largest state in Mexico by surface area, and one of the poorest, Oaxaca cuts across the southern Sierra Madre mountain range.
Its great size and difficult topography make the provision of water, electricity, health and education extremely challenging.

Our Service Region
El Sueño Zapoteco A.C. / Bacaanda Foundation has established a working relationship with the Regional Coordinating Committees of Santa María Huatulco and Pochutla. These Coordinations include more than 300 schools in 35 municipalities in southern Oaxaca.

We believe in working WITH, not for the community
We work with parents to help them understand the critical role education plays in their children’s future.
For the implementation of technology in the schools, the Foundation provides the necessary equipment, including iPads equipped with applications focused on Spanish and Mathematics, Smart TV screens and internet signal receiving antennas. The Foundation is also committed to sending its trainers to the communities at least once a month.
The Foundation also carries out construction projects in communities where the educational infrastructure requires improvement to facilitate the maximum use of technology.
Parents commit to support each project with whatever is needed by the Foundation. This may include labor contributions through tequio, housing for our staff, and support for teachers. The parents’ commitment is sealed with an agreement between the parents and the Foundation.
